The Nobel Christmas Tree

Thanksgiving is over and now our thoughts move on to Christmas. We spent the first part of the day going through our growing number of boxes of Christmas decorations. Then after lunch we went in search of a tree. It's so nice to live where you can cut your own Christmas tree. We only traveled a short distance but we passed a dozen tree farms along the way. Arriving at the 'Nobels Only' farm we were surprised to see that they were full of zillions of branches -not looking at all like a nobel. We quickly learned that this farmer grew trees for distant markets - Arizona, Texas and Hawaii. His comment was that they did not know what nobels were supposed to look like and if he sent traditional nobles to those areas the trees would be graded down to 2nd grade and he wouldn't get his price for prime trees. So-o-o the trees are cultured, that is they are constantly trimmed and shaped so as to create a beautiful full tree that does not in any way appear to be a nobel. Well, actually the branches look the same it's just that there are so many of them - no openings to hang and display the ornaments. We spent quite a while finding 'our' perfect tree, but truthfully they all looked the same (because they were cultured!). We are happy and ready to set up and decorate our tree after church tomorrow. It will be different to have the ornaments and lights laying on the outside of the tree rather than hanging inside. Still, I'm sure it will be beautiful when it's covered in glitter and glam.
